2025: Let's try again

Some don’t have any consideration for the people right to stay where they are from. It’s very clear from Trump to see just how he consider solving the middle east wars.

Yes, but it is not really unprecedented.
In fact, that was how things worked for most of human history, before the Cold War and the globalised tension along with the existence of nuclear weapons “froze” such practices.

Once upon a time in Europe, you could go to sleep being French, with a German Duke owning your village and wake up and find out that the Italian king died in his sleep, thus the King of Aragon now rules Naples and they made a deal to switch up some lands to “balance the map” and now your new Duke is Polish and he has sworn fealty to the British.

The example is imaginary with a dash of whatever I remember from history class, but based on what really happened at the time. I think some very interesting remnants of that exist in the Belgian borders with the Netherlands.

In a sense, a lot of European history was a turbo-charged NBA draft :stuck_out_tongue:
And let’s not get started on how other country sized “plots of land” changed hands in a blink of an eye, in “the colonies”…

So, yeah, a huge mess is quite the understatement

Yes, it was still the norm in the 19th century, but I thought we had more or less grown out of it during the 20th century when that sort of imperialism combined with weapons of mass destruction led to global wars totalling more than a 100 million deaths.

That was seemingly not enough.

Spain taking Netherlands etc.

I considered including that, but I thought it was perhaps too unlikely. It seems Spain and the Netherlands have had excellent relations in recent centuries (not being direct neighbours may have helped).

If Spain doesn’t get a hold of its royal family soon, maybe they’ll need some overseas territory to ship them :stuck_out_tongue:

Everything old becomes new again. People are still people, it’s a mistake to think we are more enlightened than our predecessors. The internet makes us a lot louder, but not necessarily any wiser.

Good. Obnoxious owl had it coming.

I think the masterminds threw the owl under the bus now that it got tired serving as their publicity shield, but the real obnoxious perpetrators are still out there.

Tinfoil hat on, I think because this new app with the whale came on the scene and they want to disassociate from animal logos.

I just saw the trailer too. The main actor is the same actor as the guy in Squid Game but he looks so much like Cho Hunhyun here!
