Now that chess is available on Duolingo, do you want Go to be available as well?
- Yes
- No
- Maybe

Sample screen from the chess course:
Yes, if only to promote popularity.
I’d never use it nor would recommend it though.
Why would I be against?
I think duolingo’s popularity is really decreasing rn no?
But yeah i guess a duolingo go course would be great, i don’t think it will ever happen though
Or why would I be in favour of it?
What are the advantages of putting go on Duolingo?
I don’t see them yet, but maybe someone can convince me.
I guess its because it would popularize the game to a new audience. Also ig tsumego and basic principles exercises are really compatible with duolingos’s game format
Are their besides opening a new audience to the world of go, also other arguments in favour of it?
And, maybe more important, is it likely that the effort, time, money, etc. that is invested in realising this goal worth the expected gain?
Mostly a matter of point of view.
As user I would be pleased to learn a few words about go on another language.
Each one his opinion but my guess is there are still many people who even don’t know what the game is. If Duolingo would be interested in integrating lectures about go vocabulary I expect even some benevolent helpers from the go community may arise
Yeah I agree with this. I already hear some people calling GoMagic the Duolingo for Go.
I don’t personally see any, but it is a solid argument in itself.
And, maybe more important, is it likely that the effort, time, money, etc. that is invested in realising this goal worth the expected gain?
That’s besides the point though. This is something for Duolingo to consider, as a corporation making a business decision, but is irrelevant to whether we may want a feature as individuals.
This is not beside the point, because if the go community wants it on Duolingo, it will have to lobby for it. DL will not without any lobbying or pressure decide to even consider this. And that lobbying costs time, money and stamina. If there is someone or a group of players who are willing to invest time, etc. into this lobbying, I am okay with that. Be my guest.
This is not beside the point, because if the go community wants it on Duolingo, it will have to lobby for it.
The question was “do you want it to be available”, and it is irrelevant for answering this question.
The question was not “do you think it will realistically happen”, “how to make it happen”, “would you be ready to dedicate time and efforts to make it happen” etc.
Consider the big picture.
If it’s worth for chess here, you may think that CJK culture may be enough impregnated with go to do it for go too.
Good point, if Duolingo wants to profile itself as truly interested into that culture, this would be a good way to do it.
Duolingo is expert at gamifying learning. Could be a good way for players to actually do their tsumego.
How do I find chess on Duolingo?
Just search for chess under their courses.
I tried but didn’t find it. That’s why I asked. But maybe it is still beta as the answer from Atorrante suggests and not everyone can see it.
