More seriously, an explanation could be the gaming aspect of it. If you encounter a tsumego during a game, then the goal is to win this tsumego against your opponent; whereas if you encounter a tsumego in a tsumego book, you need to win the tsumego against the book, which is basically an emotionless mirror that will always win unless you find the one perfect solution.
