I mentioned it to a friend once that Hikaru no Go is a bit like yugioh and they were like “oh so he cheats”. They both have a player helped by an invisible master that can take over or give advice on how to win.

I think if Hikaru no Go came out after the start of the AI era, people’s impression of it would probably be different. It only worked last time because we couldn’t find a “Sai” that could help us win games so easily. Now everyone can easily carry a “Sai” around everywhere.
