How can I prevent white from making a living?

here, bottom right white stones made a living in a game I was playing and I couldn’t stop it,

and I wonder, was there a way I could prevent that? how?

You can make a ko by playing the G2 atari. White cant connect, so they would play F2, black would capture on H3 and then white would need to find a ko threat somewhere ^^

So yeah, locally you can make a ‘ko to kill’ with that shape, and based on how the rest of the board looks like you should probably be able to win the ko too.

Next question, white’s last move was a mistake. What better move would have let white live unconditionally, no ko?

An attempt a trying to solve it is … kind of disrupted when one has already read the solution.

since you posed the question, you don’t need to use hidden text. groin was requesting that people giving you answers hide those answers so that people that come along later have a chance to solve the problem themselves before seeing what others answered.

Yeah, it’s probably the one aspect of Discourse I think is not great. Overall it’s still my favorite forum software to use, though. Most of my complaints with Discord boil down to, it’s not Discourse
