I don't understand

How is this a loss for white. I’m white, Black player just wouldn’t accept the lost and kept resuming I continued to have 4.5 point lead and then after about the 5th or 6th resume black wins???

Repeatedly rejecting the correct score is stalling. The white stones were incorrectly marked dead by your opponent, this is score cheating.

I’ve just reported your opponent for both stalling and score cheating. Unfortunately, I it isn’t possible to change this game to a win for you. However, I think it will likely be annulled and will thus not count as a loss.

EDIT: If you ever come across an opponent who is refusing to accept the correct score, or incorrectly marking living stones as dead, you can click on their name and then click “report”. Alternatively, you can click “call moderator” from the side panel. This will alert the mods who will take the necessary actions, if any are needed.

In the stone removal phase, your opponent wrongly marked your stones as dead (and I cannot tell whether accidentally or maliciously, but with them being 25k also and possibly not yet familiar with the OGS interface, it might have just been by accident), and unfortunately you seem to have accepted that.

You should actually have won by 4.5 points, says Score Estimator. We mods cannot give that victory to you after it’s all done, we can only annul the game (which hopefully a colleague will do soon-ish, as I hesitate to do that b/c I am not familiar with the other required action like perhaps warning your opponent).

Anyway, please don’t take it to heart, unfortunate things like these happen, the win should have been yours, and the game will be annulled soon.

Oh, @PRHG replied and also acted already while I was writing :slightly_smiling_face: – thanks!

Thanks, I appreciate it. The other player was complaining in the game chat about how they should have won but I knew I had it in the bag…

I wouldn’t normally bother about it but I’ve really been working on my ranking.

Thanks again, just not having count as a loss is great.

It’s just 1 game on a small board. Although we don’t appreciate wrong attitude when it happens, the OGS rating system is one of the quickest to adjust your results. So don’t worry too much when something goes wrong. Keep the pleasure to play and progress, don’t focus too much on the rating which is more a tool to get some fairness in the chances to win, as a tool to gives you your level of play.
Your ranking shouldn’t stress you it will naturally evolve without implying some intense consideration. What matters more is your understanding of the game, sometimes playing better involves losing more games. Like when trying something new.

Hi, I know its frustrating to run into this kind of situation when you’re are working on pushing ranks diligently.

this kind of issue has happened to me to before.

Good thing is, this happens mostly around the sub-20 kyu ranks (in my experience)after that, players are mostly mature enough to realize when to admit defeat.

If you haven’t already, I suggest you report the offender, so that at least this get flagged. And if he keeps repeating this behaviour, he’ll be suspended.

All the best for future matches.
