If a Duolingo-style Go learning app existed, what would be your must-have features?

1. AI & Adaptive Learning

  • Should the AI opponent:
    • Scale precisely with Go rank
    • Simulate human players’ move styles
    • Analyze and comment the game

2. Progression & Motivation

  • :trophy: Dan/Kyu milestones
  • :fire: Streak shields
  • :globe_with_meridians: Culture unlocks: Access pro commentaries by mastering joseki
  • :chequered_flag: Weekly challenges: e.g. “win 5 games in 7days”

3. Learning Resources

  • :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Joseki/Tesuji Drills
  • :puzzle_piece: Tsumego by Difficulty (Beginner→Pro)
  • :bar_chart: Game Review AI
  • :microphone: Pro Commentary Packs (e.g., Lee Sedol’s AlphaGo analysis)

Pretty much everything you mentioned, plus a pattern search feature is necessary.

That sounds good. I also have a bold idea: using a move pattern search method to recommend suitable teaching resources for learners based on their game records.

Not tomorrow. In 2050 maybe?

Most of the world’s population doesn’t know what GO is. It’s highly unlikely.

The situation you mentioned does objectively exist. Promoting Go worldwide is indeed a major challenge for professionals in the Go industry.
