I think the biggest thing the book really does is it tells you to remember to read, and is probably a good thing to read when you don’t know what to study.
If you really want to learn the things it tries to teach you, you can look towards the rest of the Elementary Go Series.
Whenever someone writes “read”, I get confused if they meant to read books or to read the board. So yes, Kageyama’s book encourage further studying and pointed the way on what to study.
I took the advice I found on SL and opted for the Mastering the Basics Series. Supposedly it’s easier to digest for people at my stage. However, I also got the Attack and Defence and Tesuji from Elementary Go Series because they were very well recommended.
