My laptop broke last week and got it back today, formatted, so I have to do everything again. I didn’t link an email and I can’t remember my password to save my life. I had 5 or so correspondence games going and I probably lost them by now.
Do I have to start from scratch on this account, or can tech help me? Getting to 20k was a lot of work.
Go servers able to measure your current strength fast. A lot of work is about improving Yourself.
Just a few games may be enough to get correct rank in the account. For player of Any strength.
Although I agree with @square_fuseki that getting a rank back is usually pretty quick on OGS, it’s still a pain to frustrate your opponents.
I’m no admin I hope someone could help.

FWIW, it’s pretty hard for us to happily reset the password of an account if you go to lots of trouble to make it hard for us to confirm who you are 
This is the whole purpose of having the email. Even a “name” (hidden) can help.
In this instance, the person’s account has been restored to the OP : on balance, the story seems likely.
