Possible feature: timezone stats?

Thoughts for a possible feature to help make correspondence matches as good a fit as possible in terms of overlap: a histogram of what time of day people usually play (histogram % number of correspondence moves vs hour of day)?

Maybe even distribution of how long games last to match similar speeds of playing? This might get a bit murky though (eg dependent on who you played)

There are some server stats in the forum, but a refresh won’t hurt.

The advantage of correspondence games is precisely that you can play people which are in a different timezone, and thus get more variety of opponents.

Yeah it has drawback

  • advantage:
    — allows people looking for ‘fast correspondence’ another way to tune that rather than via game settings
    — don’t need to have many parallel games to still get a number of moves to figure out per day
  • disadvantage:
    — might mean some players less likely to mix across timezones
    — doesn’t exist

Maybe I’ll try more/slower games in parallel instead…
