I was flooded by redicilous amount of challanges from the same use who apparantely got frustrated after loosing the game. I already declined a few dozen of challanges but can’t reach the end of this nonsense. The solution would be to block creating more than one challange to block hanginf challanges.
I believe if you block the user it prevents them challenging you. Not sure what happens if they send you 50 challenges before you block them, it stops you getting 50 more, but do you still need to dismiss those first 50?
Also, please report this user for harassment.
I did reported. Not sure if blocking user will prevent sending challenges. Block option says it blocks accepting my open game not his challenges, unless it does more.
Yes, blocking will prevent him/her from sending further challenges (even though the wording is not that good). ![]()
Sorry about the delay, I will check out the report later today, hopefully.
If someone can establish whether in fact “blocking” properly blocks a harraser, that’d be awesome.
I’m pretty sure it stops direct challenges (though even this warrants confirmation)
This sort of request has come up before, which makes me suspect that blocing may have gaps, like for example - can a harraser repeatedly accept open challenges of the blocker, or get assigned in auto-match to the blocker?
I’ll try to find the answer in the code as well, but sometimes there’s nothing quite as good as actual evidence from the live system!
Thanks!
(Note - ladders and tournaments would likely be exempt from blocking … it’s not clear to me how we could support it in that context)
Let’s test this on beta. You can block my account and I’ll send you a bunch of challenges. I’m Leira the Tester over there.
I clicked “Block user from accepting open games”.
This is pretty specific, actually, isn’t it?
At face value it seems to already say “this does not really block enough”!
I will create an open challenge, and watch out for direct challenges from you.
(We may need to co-incide on line to test “live” type games)
Tried to challenge you directly, so far so good:
Let’s see open challenges (awesome name, by the way):
Seems to be doing what it’s expected.
I think the inaccuracy lies in the description but not in the behavior
EDIT:
I left an open challenge as well. I have not blocked your account, does it mean that you could theoretically accept by accident?

Nice!
I don’t see your open challenge!
So I think we can conclude that “Block user from accepting open games” does the needful, and could do with a better label!
Thanks!
That sounds really frustrating, especially having to decline dozens of challenges from the same person. Limiting each user to one active challenge at a time seems like a simple way to prevent this kind of spam.
Could there also be an option to automatically block new challenges from someone after a few declines?
We just established that you don’t have to tolerate this: simply block them and they can no longer harass you with challenges.
Just to clarify, we already limit to one live chalange
The “issue” is only with correspondence games, where it is common to have many games at once. I guess it is not that common to have multiple against one user, but still not sure if it warrants some further limits.
That’s great to hear. Still, once you’re flooded with challenges blocking user who created them won’t remove them.
There is no end to the ways that people can find to harass others if they set their mind to it.
If you suffer from so many challenges from an antagonist that you can’t remove them all, let us know by reporting that person.
apparently there is bug:
If I block someone, I don’t see their Custom game open challenge.
If someone blocks me, I see their Custom game open challenge and get “not allowed to accept” message when click
I agree that’s not an ideal way for it to work (though at least it does block you
)
