I had this issue for long time ago and know i’m not the only one !
I have littles popup and sound notifications when a game start or finished, even when it is my turn to play in a game i’m not on in the corner of my desktop, I’m happy. EXCEPT ! for the first games in tournaments. I lost so many games and been disqualified just because i didnt put my alarm to be ready when tournament begin ! I saw so many players not playing in tournaments too, I’m sad.
I just don’t understand.
Can you be more specific?
What tournament (give a link please)?
What notifications (screen print)?
OP, I agree the tournament management is a bit opaque. A dashboard with a mini-calendar or mini-gantt showing the tournaments one has signed up for would be very valuable.
For those not using them, correspondence tournaments are published well in advance. One can easily join them, and organisers may actively promote them as well. So it is possible to sign up for something even 4 months in advance, or more! Notification at the game start or not, for the first tournament, the profile page is more geared to show current and past games. IMHO it could be good to give some visibility about the future.
Edit to add: maybe somewhere below histograms and Active Games, but above the Game History?

Any tournament is involved for me, I often miss the start by 2 or 3 minutes and lose my first gam, or when it is second round but I finished early I did something else and miss the second part leading to a lose again.
I speak about notification like desktop pop-up and sound. It is not working for tournament games.
