I recently experienced a disappointing game where my opponents marked dead stones as alive. The “yes” I clicked for the original auto-scoring result, accidently approved the cheating result maybe due to the network lag. When I realized, I tried cancelling the agreement. However, it poped out a checkbox asking me for a confirmation. Before I could confirm, the opponent click “yes” and the game ended.
I am considering if it is better to let user confirm on the agreement instead of the cancellation. The cancellation can be re-confirmed, but the confirmation cannot be revoked once game ends. Users should receive some warning when the opponents change the scoring result, especially for a web-based platform that may frequently have network lag.
He said it didn’t work for him and OGS didn’t think so. I told him to leave the stones on the board in a hurry to get them off. It requires him to lose a point, but he knows he will be eliminated, so he could make it happen.
A perfect always working counting procedure is not so obvious to fix, as you seem to think. OGS is continuously taking care to offer the best possible. There have been many threads with suggestions and debates already you could check in this forum. As of today it’s still under the scrutinity of moderators.
When you are not satisfied or in worst cases if you think someone is cheating you, please report the game (there is a link for that in each game) and moderators will take care.
