I usually don’t play correspondence games because I loose the flow of the game. But sometimes I like to open 1 or 2 fast correspondence games (1day max bank and something like that, no weekend pause and so on…) to know this game will be played fast.
The issue for me is vacations, and for this reason I’m playing less and less this mode. I noticed in some moment a new feature were added, to put the player on vacation mode you will loose on time. From one POV I think it’s a great feature, but on the other side, it’s a pain. Vacation mode can be maliciously used to prolong gameplay, and not for what it was designed, and is worse when you are premium and has more vacations days. I think vacation mode should have some flags/checks to be able to enable or not in timeframes and so on, but, this could be another discussion.
The thing is makes no sense to me to create a custom challenge with 1day bank time, and because vacations this game could long months and months due to vacation mode being activated constantly.
For this I suggest another check in custom challenges (disable vacations). Easy as that. Those games will run de time always no matter what, and will end when time is over.
Agree, as do many others as has come up several times before. One user, gia, even left the site (again) over some argument stemming from its absence. Both individual custom games and tournaments should have an “Ignore vacation” toggle which means the clock keeps ticking if the user goes on manually requested vacation, and also prevents the new(ish) auto-vacation on impending timeout feature kicking in.
I think this would be a better feature than breaking the UI

Vacation (manually and auto) disrupts this. Both in terms of the single game I am playing as well as in general, do I start another correspondence game and potentially have “too many” games if vacation ends or do I just play less go while I wait for the vacation to end
I look for as many “vacation not allowed” tournaments as I can for my rank, but I really wish I could create individual custom games with a “no vacation” toggle
Anecdotally, vacation has always been a curveball for staying in the flow, but it certainly has gotten worse since auto-vacation.
Importantly:
I empathize with not wanting to surprise players who think that vacation is a safety net. The warning text on tournament pages that disallow vacation seem fair.
I would love if when creating a custom game and vacation was disabled, the game invitation was listed with the scary “orange warning icon” saying that it is non-standard because vacation is disallowed.
There is clearly a (loud) minority of players who wish to avoid vacation, so maybe I would have an easier time finding a match for a custom game
Adding a note in case you did not know about the group FNRRT - Fast and narrow rank range tournaments that seems aligned to your requirements! Possibly there may be other similar ones.
