Through the Years: Long Correspondence

Under 350 games now, but still at least one game still under 50 moves, which may be the limiting factor.

And I just noticed Round 2 has been running 357 days…. so we have almost crossed the year mark, so probably only 3 more years for the round

You’re lucky, territories in a game aren’t that big :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Doesn’t a year have 361 days?

Two weeks (*) later:

  • 341 games in progress, 351 players involved, 78 groups
  • 19 completed games
  • 17 players completed all their games
  • 3 groups completed all their games
  • 2 disqualified players

(*) @Purble actually sent me the data a couple days ago, but I was quite busy during the weekend, so here it is.

Please don’t ever apologize for delays in this thread – it’s the Aeon-long tournament, no? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Can you add a Round 1 v Round 2 graph?

17 days later (10/27/2025):

  • 294 games in progress, 311 players involved, 70 groups
  • 22 completed games
  • 21 players completed all their games
  • 6 groups completed all their games
  • 1 disqualified player, 1 resigned

What kind of comparison would you like to see?

Still completing games at a rate of more than 1 per day. Decent pace for as long as it holds.

Maybe number of days since round started plotted against number of games remaining?

That’s the green part of the second chart (the one titled “games progress”).
It should be doable, I’ll look into it.

Yes that is a good pace. Still early days though. One game has only 48 moves so far (so avg a move every 8 days or so in that game). If you assume at least 200 moves in that game, if pace stays the same, we have over 3 years remaining before the round is over if limited by that game/pace.

Is this what you had in mind?
