While I don’t support turning the clock back to '97, dedicated space for announcements on the home page is a great idea. We could have a spot on the Play page too, and wouldn’t that be enough places to show them?
I don’t understand the current model of showing the interesting things in the background, then covering them up with other less-interesting things that almost everyone will instantly close without reading.
