To be fair, it’s quite unusual these days for politicians to actually do what they said they were going to. I’m not shocked, but you easily could be if you weren’t really paying attention.
Well, then let’s hope that these people who now suffer the consequences of their own votes will pay more attention next time (if they get the opportunity again).
The outlet reports that deleted datasets “disproportionately” come from environmental science agencies like the Department of Energy, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
As of 27 January 2025, it has an impact probability of 1 in 83
As of 29 January 2025, 2024 YR4 is rated 3 on the Torino scale with a 1 in 77 chance of impacting
As of 31 January 2025, 2024 YR4 was rated 3 on the Torino scale with a 1 in 63 chance of impacting
As of 1 February 2025, 2024 YR4 was rated 3 on the Torino scale with a 1 in 59 chance of impacting Earth on 22 December 2032.
Using NASA’s estimated diameter, mass, and density for 2024 YR4, the asteroid would release energy equivalent to 7.8 megatonnes of TNT (33 petajoules) if it were to impact Earth at a speed of 17.32 km/s (10.76 mi/s). This would produce either a meteor air burst or an impact crater, and cause destruction as far as 50 km (30 mi) from the impact site.
2032⋮ hold your breath
Don’t look up!
Meanwhile the DNC pissed off their own core by outrageously electing two straight white males.
Why are they pissed off?
a) Last time I checked Joe Biden was a “straight white male” and the democrats voted and revoted for him without any issue. He also won the presidency, so he was demonstrably electable.
b) Those people where democratically elected out of a diverse panel of choices (they had quotas to ensure that) and from a diverse crowd of electorates. So, if those people won, then that’s what the democratic proceedings say that were “the best”.
So, what’s the issue for outrage?
I am fairly certain that few - if any - of the people complaining, watched the whole process.
It is 11 hours without timestamps
For anyone interested:
Though clips of that are already doing the rounds…
Who exactly is p!ssed off?
I don’t know, I’m not up-to-date with information about US Democrats who, IMNVHO, are way too tame and lame anyway, yet another rich people’s party
Also, are you saying that anyone should be elected based on their sexual orientation, skin colour, or sex (resp. gender)?
Poe’s Law. I’m pretty sure @BHydden’s use of the word “outrageously” was sarcasm
I can’t find the article now, maybe they changed the title. I forget who published it, I only saw it in passing.
I’m not, but many (obviously not all, hopefully not even most) Democrats play identity politics, where all that matters is being the correct race and gender. Critically, anything other than a straight white man, who are all inherently evil and responsible for all of life’s evils.
I don’t think race or gender should be relevant to the role at all, everyone brings their own unique experience to the job regardless of the boxes we try to squeeze them into.
OH. MY. GOD.
I have rarely seen such a horrible misrepresentation. I wonder what brainwashed you.
ehh, the normal people on the left don’t align with the democrats or leftists anyway, hence the terms “classical liberal”, “center-left”, &c. for said normal people to distinguish themselves from who BHydden is talking about
How am I the brainwashed one for criticizing crazy things other people are saying?
It may be best to reframe the discussion. Political engagement—on both the left and right—is often driven by identity-based signaling. For the disengaged voter, policy positions focus on self-interest (“What’s in it for me?”), while for the politically engaged, policy positions often serve as markers of group identity and personal values (“What does support for this policy position say about me?”). This applies broadly across the political spectrum, not just to Democrats.
