My understanding is that the uncertainty (“deviation”) on OGS is currently almost meaningless, and everyone’s goes to around 65 after a few games.

problem is that uncertainty doesn’t increase with time if you don’t play one of categories for a long time
so thats not enough to prevent

someone could play some 13x13 games while being 20k, then become SDK on 19x19, then if they return on 13x13, they would be forced to be sandbagger if separate ranks were used

Thanks. Anoek’s Q.2 is pretty much the question I was asking and there are some detailed statistics set out to back up his conclusions. I will have to study those before I try and comment further.
