Re: grammar and spelling correction:
I have worked as a proofreader … and I’ve instructed/taught “difficult” young people … and I still—respectfully—correct young people when they make mistakes.
And I also explain to them why I do so: because they may have to write resumes and sit across some asshole staff manager who may judge them for their use of words.
