P.S. While it does look as though you and @NEWOLDGUY could easily be the same person (both ranked 60-something kyu¹, and apparently similar situations and difficulties, and you started the day after their last game so far), if not, I suggest you play one another a bit, though not exclusively: you both seem to be at much the same stage in your journey into Go, and might find you could explain or discuss things that puzzle you.
¹ You do not need to be anyone special to see this: it is there in your game history in your user page.
yes i have tried to give up, playing 9x9 games entirely, maybe a 3-day 9x9. But finding that one is really hard to come by, so i will from now on just play 13x13 3-day games, and as has been drilled into me here, not to complain or question anything, for fear of a beat down – so i will keep a lower profile from now on and just comment on others’ postings
I see you have been improving: although you have not won yet, you are getting closer: you were ahead when you resigned here against benjnderson and had moments here, against Spacemagician when you got a slight lead. It is time to stop resigning so often, and if you do, check the score graph afterwards to see how you were doing. You can click on it to go to the corresponding point in the game and then step through it to see what happened. Those were both 3’ + 7”/move, which may be a better setting than 3 days.
Ideally you need to start getting a feel for the score, i.e. if you control more of the board than they do, but that takes experience. I saw you asking for a mentor, which sounded like a great idea: how is that working out?
I am sorry you have that impression; most of us just want to help. As far as I am concerned you are welcome to ask whatever you want, and to question what you do not understand — just please assume we are trying to help.
thanks for the help i will stay to the method of playing 13x13 3 to 7 day types,i will stay in these games till iam losing by 50 % or more. its no use flogging a dead horse that has no chance of winning again thanks for the encouragement
Like I told you on your other account, “estimate score” is not giving you a percentage to win. Stop clicking that button. It is actively harming your progression in this game.
Bluntly, you’re not a strong enough player to know if you’re winning or not. At least play until the territorial borders are closed. You’ll gain a lot more game experience that way.
As far as a go lesson for today, let’s look at this move. You do this constantly, and I have to assume that it’s related to the comment above about playing moves way too fast.
But let’s back up a step, first. Do you understand that this move places your own stone in atari, allowing it to be instantly captured?
If you could please clarify if this is a case of playing too quickly, or if you don’t understand why this move is bad, that would really help us help you.
Yes when i play 9x9, i play too fast that’s for sure. Most times i just don’t see it or i think another move would be better even if i lose a stone. both scernios are wrong i no i just get sloppy i guess
I’m not talking about cases where your opponent puts one of your groups into atari, and you choose to play elsewhere. I’m referring to cases where you put your own stones into atari. In the image I added above, the marked white move was yours.
it could be that i look at the game as gaining territory, not winning stones, but i sure that thinking is wrong. Yes of course, example two is better but you can see that move before i do that’s for sure i was thinking of expanding the number of cross checks i have and did not see the danger i put myself in that’s for sure
You are playing some nice moves already!
May I encourage you to start playing against humans instead of bots. I’m pretty sure that at your current rating you would be able to win about half of your games already.
@dokbohm, I see that they’ve closed another one of your threads, ‘long for first win’.
To me you’re the juice of the forums. Don’t leave us hanging here, man. Whether it’s with @dokbohm, @NEWOLDGUY, or any new accounts you’ll be throwing at us, please continue — at least as long as there are people who keep feeding you with replies, and maybe even a short while after that.
