I’m not a fan of it either. Like I said, this is still OGS and not their personal website. They can customise whatever they want to see for themselves, but I don’t think they should affect what others see since we are all on the same website.
For now, what’s stopping me from complaining more is that at least they don’t affect my page and the games that I play. At least I don’t see it if I don’t visit their profiles and groups. They just added one more reason for me to dislike, that’s all.
Well firstly please maybe avoid calling anoek for things that are not urgent (like a server breaking down).
A profile can be a bit more personal using css tools, it’s kind of possible customization given for each of us, under your own choices. I don’t see so much harm to others in this. Till now we didn’t have much complains from moderators having to bring some help to rectify things which went wrong. If any that doesn’t seem to be like consequences of an epidemic.
You are entitled of your own opinion of course. To me there is nothing to worry that much.
I’m talking about ability to override UI style in general. There is should be no such thing.
My opinion is that all profiles should look the same. No personal customization at all. It is just my opinion. I do not believe anyone buy it. Most people here have different opinions. So it is impossible for me to use this as an argument for forbidding CSS. But it is the true reason. I think it will make OGS user experience better.
The ability to use CSS in profiles causes other issues too. I’m trying to sell this as an argument. It is also a good reason for forbidding CSS.
Maybe a solution would be a toggle in each users settings where they can opt out of seeing others’ CSS profiles? That way those who want to customise their profiles can, and those who don’t want to see it don’t have to.
Problem is, people are disagreeing about what is “wrong way”
One quite negative thing I can imagine is someone getting an epileptic seizure after visiting a profile that has some some flashing lights … that would definitely be “wrong”, I guess, with nobody disagreeing.
Or maybe they can use their profile to insert some subliminal cues that will trigger you to play wrongly? It’s quite common to visit your opponent’s profile while playing.
