On the topic of ASTs: I don’t know why we need them at all. It is easy to create your own tournament with the settings you want. You can even add a rank restriction, preventing unbalanced games at all.

I not sure what features are really necessary in general. I will say I would more likely to join standardised ASTs though than sift through the list of open tournaments trying to find one that suits me and is actually likely to go ahead.
