Makes sense to me. My post yesterday was after getting frustrated with some people who were rejecting all Fischer Time Control proposals in favor of 15 days absolute time for Hive despite the fact that in moving to a new platform, a platform willing to implement Fischer Time if a tournament wants it, there is a golden opportunity to escape from the ill-conceived Time Control BGA forces on tournaments
At this point I’ve given up on the argument. They’re stuck in their ways and maybe someday there will be a Fischer Time Hive correspondence tournament I can consider joining, and until then, they can reap the consequences of their own actions
I looked through the 16 games we played in the “Atlantic time zones” fast correspondence tournament.
tl;dr: We played with 6h/move, but I would say 4h/move fischer time should be workable, with the caveat that perhaps the players should have a decent overlap in when they are awake/online.
Given that increments below +8h/move tend to come with caveats, do you have any ideas to explain why the King of the Hive people are willing to put up with 15d absolute time at BGA?
It’s a Hive tournament. Hive games can last anywhere from 120 to 240 ply, though the lower end is more normal (not that that stopped them from appealing to 240 ply games to argue against Fischer Time, so turnabout is fair play)
