It’s a reference to another discussion that happened on these forums about how to make a clicking sound when placing a stone:

In the early 1970s I learned go from Bruce Wilcox, who was a co-worker at Intermetrics. His technique for placing a stone, using two fingers, caused a nice “click” sound against the board which helped make his play impressive. He tried to show me how easy it was to make the click, but I didn’t practice enough to get it. Perhaps someone in this forum could teach the rest of us how to do that?

I’m calling it a “Wilcox click” kind of sarcastically (as has been done before, see Go Memes! 🧐 - #4114 by BHydden), since I don’t actually think it’s really so firmly attributable to just Bruce Wilcox.

No. It has nothing to do with mouse clicks, as mice were not in common use back then. It is the process of making a firm click sound between stone and board. An analogy is the click sound produced by some older keyboards, giving tactile feedback that the key was actually input to the computer.
