It is true that Go is a game with a very steep learning curve. Once you learn the basics of

  • stone placement
  • liberties
  • capturing, etc.

there isn’t a lot of hand-holding to get you from 25kyu (“I have no idea what I’m doing!”) to 15-17kyu (“I have a vague understanding of what I’m doing, but I’m not very good at executing those ideas on the board”).

I’ve been writing this series of 19X19 FOR BEGINNERS articles, specifically trying to fill that gap. If you start at this first one, you should be able to find links to the subsequent articles embedded at the bottom of each article.
