Something looks different now and I don’t know what it is

Interesting, missing shadows - what browser are you using?

I wrote it above: Safari 17.6

I think I’m seeing the same thing and it looks weird

I meant for all games and diagrams on the site. I believe the one you point out is per game and doesn’t persist, so I’d have to twiddle it anew for every game, which is quite inconvenient.

It should persist on a per-device basis - are you sure it’s not doing that?

It seems to work for me…

Shadows should be working again on Safari browsers / iOS devices

I’d never tried it, it was just a (false) assumption on my part. It does indeed persist.

That said, it’s a very strange design IMO. All of the other things on that menu pertain only to the current game. Isn’t it way more natural to add ā€œnoneā€ as another option in the settings widget where I choose between Western and Japanese coordinates?

That… is… a very good point  I never thought about that before

i made a GitHub issue for it

Thx, now it is ok.

Disable AI review disables it for all games too

Sorry, I didn’t realize this thread was here but I made a post about this:

Also, to agree with what @square_fuseki was saying, I think the new look’s black outline on the white stones looks a bit harsh too!

To balance out negative opinions about new stones, I want to write my own. I like this design. Usually, I prefer using stone and board skins as neutral as possible not to distract me from the game, but these ones I want to actually try using. I think that they’re unique and I hope that they won’t get removed because of a public pushback against changes.

I like it. It looks mostly flat, but just subtly 3d enough to not look unnatural

I don’t think I’m going to remove them but I will add back in flat plain option I reckon. For now those that want that can all but achieve it by selecting the custom color option and setting them to black and white, the only thing that you can’t turn off at the moment is the shadow. I’ll make that a toggle too though.

Am I missing something? I thought the custom color option is removed, I can’t find it.

I also really like the new stones even though I will be opting for the flat ones when those come back. They are my current stones, I prefer them over any of the more realistic ones (including the cartoon variant).

Apparently that’s not obvious enough, I’ll ponder on that

Oh! It was because I had an image link in there already. I probably wouldn’t have had a problem figuring that out as a new user as I would have messed around with that first before trying to add a link.
