OGS as an esports platform?

Pointing and clicking a mouse is way faster than placing stones on a board physically. So @Groin is right, for very fast games there’s a significant difference between online and OTB.

And pre-moves.

Is playing very fast blitz on an IZIS board connected to OGS an esport?

How exactly do you see that happen? You would have to play both black and white stones on the board

I mean, two players playing physically on the same IZIS board, connected to OGS. The clock is the one on OGS, so they don’t have to waste time pressing the clock.

Aha. I’m not sure if that would be considered as an e-sport. As far as I have figured out so far the players do not share a board. They may be in the same room but each play on different PC’s

Not sure if it’s easy or even possible to configure but they can play their game each of them on his own izis board

The main difficulty for me in very fast games OTB is to place the stones where I want them to and take off captured stones, while not moving any other stones out of place. I’d say pressing the clock is easier.

It’s so silly to me that they did this. The players are right there sitting across from each other. Just give them a real board lol.

Why are we talking about how to make Go an e-sport? I’m much more interested in how do you make LoL OTB

Actually, there is no debate about whether or not chess is an esport. It absolutely is. I know this because I am an esports head coach and I have the ability, right now, to enter a team of chess players into a chess esports competition if I choose to do so. You can learn more on www.playvs.com.

I’m sorry but neither you nor “Play Versus Inc.” has any authority to settle this debate.

There is no doubt that there are precedents for Chess being considered as an esport by certain organizations; I stated as much in my initial comment. That wasn’t the point of contention.

Believe what you will, but I am, in fact, an esports head coach, and chess is a game that is currently being played as an esport.

I’m honestly surprised that this topic has incurred such fervored responses from this community. I didn’t think it would be a controversy by any means.

In any case, I look forward to making Go an esport as well!

I’m not disputing you are what you say you are.

I’m saying that it doesn’t grant you (nor this corporation) the authority to decide that “there is no debate”.

It’s not a matter of my claiming authority. It’s a matter of fact that chess esports teams exist and are currently competing against each other.

Do you even read my comments?

I guess I don’t know or don’t care what your point is. Actually, neither. We are already way off topic, and definitely not doing anything productive.
