Exactly. It’s convenient in terms of your time management (50 games was already too much for me) but at the end didn’t enjoy it that much, I prefer to focus on one game at a time if possible.
Before you challenge someone, look at their profile. If they have several ongoing games and it is their opponent’s turn in almost all of them, they respond quickly. I found many good ladder opponents this way, and most of my ladder games finished in around a week.
Or it is a coincidence that moment ago they check in and make moves.
I think better to look at the timer. If player responds quickly their timer should be at near maximum value regardless of the owner of the turn.
This entry is part strategy part question.
My “elaborate” ladder strategy has been to scroll as far up as I’m allowed and challenge the highest positioned player with a ranking lower than mine. Basically farming ladder positions, shameless, yes I know, effective, very much so, I climbed quickly and inflated my rating by three stones in a month. So much so that I now have a challenge by a player 14 stones stronger than me (you reap what you sow). My chances of winning are slim at best, so to protect my inflated rating I can cancel the game and only drop one position in the ladder? It kind of feels like a glitch, the only thing I lose is the lesson I’ll be given by playing a much stronger player.
You don’t need to cancel the game. If you lose it, your rating will be affected by less than 1 point.
