B6
B3:
It seems like we are working with slightly different coordinate systems, but the links to @shinuito 's tool are very helpful to clear my confusion.
I could probably look into hashing the position to try and keep it a fixed length. Make the alphabet it uses in the link larger so that the space needed will be less than just listing all the coordinates (itās an ok first attempt though )
Yeah @terrific could be thinking of OGSās coordinates, where it goes from 9 to 1 top to bottom on the left side. I kind of prefer it as it is (it kind of makes sense in a matrix coordinates type way but also for drawing coordinates) although originally it was unintentionally different I was even looking at OGS to see what letters they used
The gameās been really interesting to watch so far
C3
Yea, I meant B4
A4:
C4. I want to resign but letās play a few more movesā¦

conditional move
if black B2 then white F4

B2, F4, G4:
I hope you are having fun anyways. This game was very exciting and I have been enjoying it a lot.
G3
I enjoy the game too
I play G2:
Iām glad to hear that. Iām looking forward to playing more games and also encourage other people to try this variant.
encourage other people to try this variant.
Lately Iāve been intrigued by stone_defenderās āOpening Freedom Goā, which is standard Go but with komi decided (either by bot evaluation or bidding) after a certain number of moves.
He was envisaging four moves before komi is established, but I think ten would be more interesting.
That sounds interesting too. Do you know of someone who tried it?
The main discussion is at Suggest a new rule you'd like to see in Go (fun times) - #36 by bugcat
(and no)
Perhaps it should be spun out into its own thread.
Canāt see a way to make anything happen. I resign. Good game.
Well played, thank you for the game.
I was afraight that you would play B7 on move 16:
I donāt know what I would have done, but I believe Black probably has to somehow sacrifice. Hereās an example sequence where Black tries to live:
Note that White has an eye at A7 thanks to the removed intersection!
At this point I thought youād push and cut as well @martin3141
The cutās an atari
I should add a button for selecting Black/White or alternating placement of stones or something like adding numbers to the image. It looks really helpful for discussing sequences from your images @martin3141
That was my first thought, too. Iām not sure what would happen then, but hereās my reasoning for not cutting. White can avoid a direct confrontation with 2 and 4:
ā¦ and White can look forward to playing A or B next.
Yeah I suppose that makes sense, and then once white is ok on the outside, some similar sequence to your above one but one less liberty for Black.
Anyway, thatās cool, interesting game Iād be up for playing one
I too want to play more games, but at the same time I want to encourage more people on the forum to try this variant, and Iāve already had the pleasure twice. So speak up if you want to have a go! Iām down to spectate this round.
Random Starting Position + Flexible Komi isnāt a very catchy name.
What about Lacunar Go or Lacunal Go, or just Hole Go?
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/lacuna#English
Or RaSP?
I suppose ārandom starting positionā also makes it sound like thereāll be random stones on the board rather than thereāll be random holes on the board.
Maybe something like hole go + flexible Komi, or hole go + pie rule might be better, I dunno
