Through the Years: Long Correspondence

Was this the only game that ended today?

No, rate is about 1 game per 1-2 hours, maybe.

In the game, Black played (75) T6 which offers to continue the ko after (76) R1.

But actually Black can kill outright by allowing White a false escape: none of A, B, or C are real eyes.

plpl.szk 12k – Conniptions 13k is nearing the middlegame, it seems.

A quiet opening in jokassel 11k – karussell 11k, but the big points have run out…

frankiehiggs 12k – AlmightyTHORp 13k is shaping up nicely (although with an interesting corner…)

I somehow managed to stumble my way towards one win. I don’t think I’m gonna win other games.

Additionally, 5d game ended

Additionally, in this one close game black messed up. With ko and forcing move on the right, they could win maybe?

We have another dan game finished.

Our chatter Shakes is timing out their games  https://online-go.com/player/605216/

Jeth got a little unlucky in the endgame.

A very peculiar 1.5 point game ^__6

It will be a little more interesting once the game rate will be so slow that I’m able to look through them all. For now I decide on which games to show off by one glance.

I wonder how a chart like this might look over the duration of this tournament

Sure! With OGS mods and devs instead of political leaders.

Not sure if this rule for Long Bets apply to our Tournament

The subject of the Prediction or Bet must be societally or scientifically important.

And who’s ready to bet $50?

Why did they both pass.

Probably they didn’t care because black was so far ahead and the strange counting kept black as the winner. If white can’t find the resign button … :man_shrugging:

Updates on timespan estimation.

Looks like second degree polynomial trend line fits very well.
So we could assume that this tournament will NEVER become to an end.

Logarithmic trend line isn’t actually that bad and it’s estimation is about one year.

Capacitor trend line, well… I did my best to fit last data (all those after the second wave of timeouts) and my maximum capacity is 9500 so, again, no hope…

Slowest game is this one but as you can see it’s not going anywhere

Both sides have plenty of vacation time, so I can’t come up with any acceptable reason for pausing. Unpause it if you can is my vote.

I understand the initial rush has passed and people gravitate back to what they are used to, but I don’t think we should meddle with other people’s games without reason.

I had stated early enough, albeit half-jokingly, that there should be a rule in place for pausing. If there’s no rule, nobody is breaking it. Saying “now that I think about it, people are going longer in this long tournament than it feels right for me” is not the way.

If TD wants to put a rule in place, they of course can; but it should be clear to everyone participating.

A group notice with what is and isn’t acceptable could solve this.
