Tournament Shorthand?

I really like how you put so much thought into devising this interesting system. If it makes it easier for you to record or describe a game, then that’s great. However, I think its complexity might make it difficult for many to adopt. Like a lot of shorthand systems, it may come naturally to its inventor, but appear indecipherable by others. I don’t understand how one would use your system to record a whole game, but maybe you intend it as only a system for recording comments on moves in shorthand?

If an electronic device is not allowed, but pen and paper is, then I think I would prefer to use a game recording sheet (as mentioned by @Vsotvep), examples of which are available here:

However, if a recording sheet was not available and/or I was restricted to plain text, then I would try to note down the moves by their coordinates. Personally, I wouldn’t attempt to do this with the typical “A1” coordinates, since I wouldn’t be able to remember if whether Q17, P16, or something else was the top-right star point.

In the past, I’ve thought about how I would try to determine and visualize coordinates on a real board without labels, and this even led me to propose a corner-relative system, where the coordinates reflect the distance from the nearest corner, while also unambiguously distinguishing which corner. I brought it up on the LifeIn19x19 forums, which led to quite a lively discussion:

Essentially, my system would label the points on the board like this:

A1 B1 C1 D1 E1 F1 G1 H1 J1 K1 91 81 71 61 51 41 31 21 11
A2 B2 C2 D2 E2 F2 G2 H2 J2 K2 92 82 72 62 52 42 32 22 12

It is inspired by another corner-relative system, Audouard Coordinates, which was devised by Pierre Audouard to cope with his degenerative vision loss during his career as a professional go player.
