Variant Tournament

I won by Time out x.x
Having no time warning really is a bit unfortunate :x
It was close in the end, but Valens was likely a few points ahead at the latest point of the game.

I agree, improving this is (now) on the ToDo-List.

Does black need to connect here? Can Black atari instead?

Atari and then what?

Ah shoot i thought it was a ladder, but im re-reading and that’s not the case. Thanks!

I think it’s a good observation though, and playing Atari from the other side makes sense to me, before protecting against the cut.

Looks like it also becomes feasible later in the game, when black has more stones in the area

I believe white can capture :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh wow, that’s right, I keep misreading these holes!

So why does white ignore? To me it seems like white can put a good deal of pressure on black if white controls that strait (but probably I’m just overvaluing it)

The holes make it so our previously learned pattern recognition is sometimes wrong. So it’s easy to miss this kind of sequence, which wouldn’t work on a normal board - especially under time pressure.

Indeed I didnt see that move 3 works. At least Valens neither xp

As for the atari before connecting, you have to explain. I cant seem to understand rn.

I was thinking of something like this:

Ohh, thats what you meant with ‘the other side’ :joy:
Yes, that makes sense.

Let’s move on to round 3.
Unfortunately I did not hear from @doh , so I’ve dropped them for now. But as always I’m happy to re-add for future rounds, as long as there is interest to play.
The game Atorrante - DoubleU is also a no-result (which I’m entering as a tie), but both players expressed that they want to continue (please feel free to play your round 2 game anyway).

@Sadaharu and @Senffarbe will also play starting this round, welcome!
