What is the community concensus about keeping notes?

The old master in my club does that. He plonks it somewhere near him and slides to its destination. The plonk is so loud that I once got a headache after playing against him.

This is not actually true.

The Malkovitch log is there for note that you want people other than your opponent to see.

It was put in place based on the idea that it would be interesting to watch what people are thinking, hence the name.

Your opponent can see those notes by logging out…

If it were intended for only you to see, it would be locked down so only you can see it.

It does have an apparent use as personal notes that your opponent can see later (note that they see them after the game) but it may be worth being aware of this subtlety.

I’ll use it for that, too, but I usually just assume my opponent won’t try and read my Malko log until after the game. Maybe I’m too trusting there, but I don’t think so.

My malk logs are filled with things like “I can’t wait for the AI review to make fun of me for this sequence after the game” or “and this is why I shouldn’t try to read in byo-yomi”

Is “and this is why I shouldn’t try to read in byo-yomi” immediately followed by a post-game chat “and this is why I shouldn’t send Malko messages in byo-yomi”?

Notes are on every last turn-based server I’ve seen to date; why not this one, too?

As in not malkovich log but a separate notes that only the user can see?

Yes. I think the answer to “why not this one, too?” is “because it’s one of many wish list items yet to make it to the top of the list”
