1st game - capture rules question (answered)

Can you take two pieces from separate units with one move?

Yes. Any opposing pieces that have no liberties after your move are captured. Feel free to post a picture or game-link to ensure no confusion.

You’re welcome.

Good tutorial available here: https://learn-go.net/

and a big list of resources available here: https://online-go.com/docs/other-go-resources

Have fun.

[Edit] I wish I’d learnt at the age of 5. Sigh.

I’m curious, how does it come to you got a go set for your 5 yr old? I’d expect either you or your son knows the game already, but this doesn’t seem to be the case.

So what is the story behind this gift?

I guess some wonderful person must have gifted it in order to introduce them to the game. Great gift, one that will keep giving for a lifetime of enjoyment.

Welcome to our forums and the game of go, @gregory.davin!
