Well, now itâs poker
Cheating in poker is as old as the game. I got taken once in a hand for about $10 (= $20 in todayâs inflated currency), by someone who I believe was dealing seconds. My advice: never play with a cheat.
There is a great book on card mechanics: Card Mastery by Michael MacDougall
Cheating in everything is as old as that game.
Yes, but the techniques and opportunities for cheating are vastly greater in some IRL games (such as poker) than in others (such as chess)., which is why casinos have huge security systems and an army of observers on staff.
The ad on the right says âTimeless tasteâ, but in those circumstances it should really say âTasteless timeâ
âredo electionsâ
I know that powerful people generally love this tactic, but I think they should really not say such things in public.
Iâm still watching his videos occasionally, but the content has become a lot more grim these days.
I just saw that he moved (fleeing the draft?) to Rotterdam, as shown from 3:16 to 3:22 in his latest video.
Viewer's discretion: Waching this video is not very uplifting.
So chesscom prepared a report on Niemann, itâs unreleased but they gave it to WSJ so they can write an article about it.
But like itâs online so. Many titled players cheat online as I understand. They note unusual patterns in offline games but itâs not like theyâre gonna say anything, they donât need all that. Letâs wait for 72-page report.
âWe are prepared to present strong statistical evidence that confirm each of those cases above, as well as clear âtogglingâ vs ânon-togglingâ evidence, where you perform much better while toggling to a different screen during your moves,â Rensch wrote.
Classic. Doesnât everyone know you should use a second computer?
They seem like fairly fast time controls too - but I suppose for good players they need a few good moves at critical points and maybe they can hold an advantage then or something.
Itâs like they havenât even read Death Note. Light Yagami can commit murder from his bedroom in front of a security camera, but these guys canât even move a rook without getting caught red-handed!
Also, the whole âlikely cheatedâ thing is a bit of a non-news. Of course he âlikely cheatedâ. The only question is whether there is actual proof or not. So far it looks like there isnât.
EDIT: I am a bit confused by the self-contradicting statement âitâs unreleased but they gave it to WSJâ.
Sensationalism.
No one is denying that he cheated in online games, he even admitted to it. WSJ is shit as usual.
All Magnus has is a feeling that Hans cheated, and yet heâs going all out to end Hansâ career. Mainstream media is supporting Magnus because heâs Magnus, not because he has good evidence.
If there was a post-game analysis saying Hans cheated, then I wouldnât mind. I just hate witch hunts and people mindlessly believing famous people.
Ok, hereâs the chess com report: Hans Niemann Report - Chess.com
Specifically hereâs the link to google drive https://drive.google.com/file/d/11IokKgTVSXdpYEzAuyViIleSZ_2wl0ag/view
I think itâs interesting
Thank god I follow celebrity gossip legal drama, it has prepared me for this typhoon.
I would say instead that all four areas plus Crimea become independent territories with no Ukrainian or Russian Troops allowed. They would have a permanent UN presence as independent states, so they will in effect be a DMZ. Then Ukraine will be allowed to join NATO as long as troops arenât allowed east of Kyiv.
Some more butter for that popcorn
The comments in the live chat are almost as epic as Finegoldâs commentary.
That Peter Cottontail meme has me a bit shook up. Not since Bambi Meets Godzilla have I seen anything so ruthlessly uncompromising. Man, the twenty-first century is a real piece of work!
