āUnder Puerto Rican law, allegations of incest are taken very seriously. If proven guilty, the artist could be sentenced to up to 50 years in prison.ā
Wouldnāt the nephew also go to jail for 50 years?
I donāt think nephew was a willing participant, heās the accuser.
Or maybe news only mention the famous one, itās a more shocking title.

I wanted to post more pictures but I busted or sprained my knee there so now it hurts and doesnāt wanna stop hurting. Any movement or lack of it lol so itās annoying to do anything. Sleeping seems to be helping, better not to do anything, ever.
Gudzumiās of course
Donāt we always make the news for the weirdest reasons.
Paint me skeptical. Did anyone ask Bangladesh to confirm? This incident comes just a week or two after reports that China is flying weapons into Serbia, possibly for trans-shipment to Russian forces in Ukraine.
Seems like they did:
"Serbiaās Defence Minister NebojÅ”a Stefanovic said that the plane was transporting almost 11 tonnes (11,000 kg) of Serbian-made weapons to Bangladesh.
But there are conflicting reports of what kinds of weapons were on board.
Mr Stefanovic said it had included āilluminating mortar mines and training (mines)ā, adding that the flight āhad all necessary permissions in accordance with international regulations.ā
A director from the arms dealer Valir also told the BBC there were landmines on board.
However, a spokesman for Bangladeshās military public relations office told the BBCās Bengali service that the plane contained mortar shells bought from Serbia for the training of army and border guards.
The plane, which was due to make stops in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and India before reaching its final destination of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, was being operated by Meridian, a Ukrainian cargo airline. The crew are understood to have been Ukrainian."
The crew was Ukrainian? Very bizarre. Russian Unkranians, I wonder? As I understand it, Serbia favors Russia against Ukraine.
Perhaps the weapon delivery has nothing to do with the Russia-Ukraine war, and they chose a Ukrainian cargo airline to avoid raising suspicions that the weapons would be delivered to the Russian army?
I mean, thereās been other wars going onā¦
Apparently Bangladesh needs more weapons. Who are they fighting against? India? China?
Maybe Myanmar?
The crew and company where Ukrainian, all the reports agree on that.
And companies favor money.
Iād say that arms dealing, like most businesses, does not care about nationalities or sides.
The story for how Fanta came about is a prime example of that.
The Serbian minister, mr. Stepanovic, claims that the whole sale was legal and followed the proper procedure, which is obviously unknown to us since we have no knowledge of that industry.
So, since I am ignorant on the matter, I have no opinion on it, but I guess I agree with @Conrad_Melville that the whole matter is ābizarreā enough for investigative journalists to have a look, I guess?
Jesus Christ how sick and nauseous I am from this life. Anyone else?
@JethOrensin are you guys planning to have fires this year? Or this year is skipped? Is anything being done to prepare?
Nothing is being done in preparation and there have already been a lot of fires in the country.
Not much is left to burn here specifically, since this is the map of last yearās total destruction:
That was one of the best forests in the country. It was such an amazing biome that it was responsible for 50+% of the pine tree honey production of the whole country. Gone. Iāll have to live 30+ years more to see it restored.
It would be a narrow person, or a dishonest person, who says they have never felt doubts or low spirits. However, like the tramp in Meet John Doe, āI know the worldās been shaved by a drunken barber,ā and I long ago adjusted my outlook to compensate. For me, the key was to take an interest in the wonders of the world rather than stew in resentment or yawn through life.
Coincidentally, I ran across a great, relevant quote the other day, but unfortunately have forgotten the source and am unable to trace it. It was to the effect that āHappiness begins with gratitude,ā or perhaps it was āGratitude is the beginning of happiness.ā
In trying to trace it, in Barlettās and five other volumes of aphorisms and proverbs, I ran across a lot of other fine thoughts on the subject. Several ancient Greek and Roman authors noted, correctly in my opinion, that the source of happiness does not lie outside ourselves, but within us. In other words, it is a state of mind that we can create, or not, as we choose. (If one is religious, one can go further and say it lies in the faith that is in us, but this isnāt essential if one is a nonbeliever.) There is also a proverb that āHappiness is a habit to be cultivated.ā This goes back to ideas in Plato about the acquisition of righteousness, or right action, which is begun by imitation and develops in time into a habit.
Though this is more apporpriate for the language learnerās topic, it is worth noting that what we translate from the ancient texts as āhappinessā is usually the word āĪµĻ ĻĻ Ļίαā (also used today for āhappinessā) which literally means āgood luckā (ĪµĻ = good, ĻĻĻĪ· = luck ) or good fortune. Another word used is āĪµĻ Ī“Ī±Ī¹Ī¼Ļνίαā which goes along the same path, but more in the ādivine blessingā kind of luck.
That probably gives a better explanation and a more realistic spin to some of the ancient proverbs.
Ī¤Ī¹Ļ ĪµĻ
ΓαίμĻν; Ī ĻĪæ μεν ĻĻμα Ļ
γιήĻ, Ļην Γε ĻĻ
Ļήν εĻĻĪæĻĪæĻ, Ļην Γε ĻĻĻιν εĻ
ĻαίΓεĻ
ĻĪæĻ. (ĪĪ±Ī»Ī®Ļ Īæ ĪιλήĻιοĻ).
āWho is blessed/happy? Whoever is healthy in body, rich in soul, and inquisitive in nature.ā (Thales of Miletus)
Quite different from the very abstract and fickle and hard to define happiness of the modern world.
So, I think that you, Conrad, the modern society and the ancients are overloading the word āhappinessā with a lot of different meanings, which results in this miscommunication
