I’ve heard that E-Mail is quite unpopular in china and most people use WeChat or other services to authenticate on internet sites. My question is: Do you guys nonetheless have an E-Mail address despite preferring other authentication methods? Thx for answering!
Yes Chinese own email like us. May still have some use even if QQ, WeChat and other services are very used.

Off brand? What do you mean? If you are thinking about Gmail Yahoo and such, they have different brands as these ones. To be “off” depends of where you are. These offer similar services (like free subscription at 163 point com).

I think an important sense of the question is “does everyone have an email address”, in a similar way that “everyone” does in the west?
Or would it be common for someone to simply not have to bother having an email address?

fair, though given that we have some people here who do or have lived in China, there are also less efficient avenues
Actually, a home grown targetted place would be #Chinese, although I’m not sure about the etiquette of asking a question in English there

I am Chinese, and about 50% of Chinese internet users do not have email addresses.
