"Accept removed stones" button doesn't work

Looking through old posts… This seemed to be a recurring problem a few years ago, but I didn’t see any resolution. I’ve had a couple of games where on my end, both players have accepted removed stones and two green-check marks are displayed, but the clock continues to run. It appears that my acceptance doesn’t show up on my opponent’s end as described in the chat. We tried resuming the game and passing again with the same problem.

It’s a strange one.

From the perspective of the server, the logs say that white only ever accepted the score once - before the autoscore had finished doing it’s job!

The “before” was in fact at the exact same time-stamp - it’s as if the “accept” message somehow overtook the “autoscore” message in the internet.

This CAN happen in some circumstances, although it beats me how it might happen in the exact situation, since it’s all going over a websocket :face_with_monocle:

This put the sequence of “expected events” out of wack: white’s client thought that they had accepted, but the server thought that a new autoscore came from them.

The workaround would be to have mercy on our server, and pause half a sec when the game ends before hitting ‘accept’, to make sure the server got the autoscore all sorted first. :slight_smile:

I noticed the same issue once. It happens when game resumed then returned to the scoring phase again. The UI thinks in this case that score is accepted and the accept button is inactive.

There’s a possibility that reloading the browser tab would resolve it, I’m not sure.

I chatted with anoek, we can see some “things that might be done to remedy this”.
