We’ve received reports that internet users in Russia may be affected by internet censorship actions by the Russian government that broadly impact internet access through disrupting services and content delivery.

Public news reports say that Putin has greatly restricted internet access recently to sites outside of Russia. This is probably an attempt to censor news about recent successful drone attacks by Ukraine, especially the wave of attacks on Moscow the other day.

:thought_balloon:
Tangential thought: I realized recently that @Allerleirauh abruptly evaporated both from the forum and OGS, pretty sure they were Russian; they were active as back in the day. They were talking about getting conscripted at one point I believe.

FYI How Russia reins in the internet by blocking websites and isolating it from the rest of the world @zayats_v_adidase

I wonder if KGS is restricted too: I remember about 15 years ago chatting in the KGS All Politics room with SAlexander about this relatively unknown anti corruption activist called Alexei Navalny who was getting a lot of grassroots support from the young internet generation.

It seems that the Russian government has shifted tactics from black- to whitelisting (i.e. their own stuff).

After reading a couple of lines about it a couple of days ago I came across a YT-video from Masha Borzunova (Russian journalist in exile) on ARTE television today: VIDEO

Unfortunately for some it’s in German. But I think more will be said about this soon in more languages…
