Adding an email address to a profile that lacks one

I never supplied an email address when I signed up, and now want to. I have played around for quite a while in the profile screen after clicking edit, but I can’t see the field to add an email address. Is this not possible or am I missing something obvious?

It is actually in the settings, not profile.
