It was there a moment ago, when I had unread messages. Not anymore

Ah, so now it’s only there if there is unread stuff … before that it was always there, gray if there were none and blue if there were unread msgs.
Thank you!, I’m (somewhat) relieved, though I liked it better as it was before b/c I could then still visit older stuff again if I wanted to.
It seems this feature was moved to the profile button in the upper right (the one with your profile picture). I get the notification list when I click on it.
