J’espère que c’est aussi le cas avec le vaccin AZ (dont j’ai reçu ma première dose) qui utilise ce genre de ARNm aussi si j’ai bien compris
Well, I don’t wash my hands many times a day, but I do wash them properly!
I can’t truthfully say that I wash my hands properly most of the time (not that anyone cares to know that though; especially in a thread like this.)
SHAME ON THEE!!
Thou wilt henceforth be shunned.
Hand to heart, the least change pandemic brought to my life has been how often I wash my hands. I was already there.
I wash my hands more often that before the pandemic, but I am still not convinced this is really useful. Last year people complained that we lacked masks and hand sanitizers. Now we have them, however the pandemic is still severe. I think that only herd immunity, through vaccination or natural contamination, will put an end to the propagation of the disease, hopefully before 2022.
Washing hands alone, or wearing masks alone, or any of the measures alone, is not going to solve the pandemic. Each of them individually contribute a little bit, and the combined effect of all measures together is what gives protection. Next to that, none of these measures is there to bring an end to the pandemic, they’re there to keep in under control until vaccination is ubiquitous enough to stop the pandemic.
But how would it be without them? Could there be other reasons than hand sanitising / mask wearking having no effect to explain the pandemic still being severe? For instance, I see a lot of people taking a rather relaxed attitude towards social distancing lately, far more than what I remember from a year ago.
It’s very difficult to conclude that a certain measure has no effect.
I don’t think that washing hands or wearing masks has “no effect”, but that the effect is very limited.
Well, I am not worried anymore. Things are now going as predicted/expected when everyone was calling for “more doctors” and the government instead hired “more cops/troops” (based on the argument “and what are we going to do with all these doctors once the pandemic is over” - this was actually said by the government). So, we are in utter chaos while pretending otherwise.
The country has managed to keep its historical obligation of being totally bananas and we can all rejoice of really being worthy of our ancestors
Of course I am joking. What else is there to do? If you take things seriously here, you can go mad.
When coronavirus first hit, and everyone was scared, and hid in their bunkers cases went up and up. Now that everyone is relaxed and don’t care as much anymore, cases go down and down here. Thus, carefree attitude is crucial.
The effects of protective measures is likely to be the cause of the drop in cases in other diseases than covid-19 in France in 2020.
It seems much more plausible that people get relaxed when the numbers get down than the other way around.
Besides, I don’t know which country you’re in, but here in Germany, the first wave, where everyone was rather careful, was the smallest, and after a few weeks, incidence went back to a level where each case could be traced and outbreaks contained. When then, after some re-openings, the numbers rose again, politics reacted much too late and weak, and 10000s died. And now, when everyone could see how the new, more infectious variants shaped up the beginnings of the third wave (even when still dominated by the sinking numbers of the original variant), politics still opened schools and so on so that now the third wave hits the hardest of all, especially because the wrong signals give rise to a misplaced carefree attitude.
I took @S_Alexander’s post to be a sarcastic commentary on the difference between correlation and causation.
Not much to say, other than:
May 2020, Greece --> 20 patients/week, 0 deaths/week
October 2020, Greece --> 1000 patients/day, 50 dead people/day
The only thing that occurred between May 2020 and October 2020 was tourism.
April 2021, Greece --> 3000+ patients/day, 50 deaths/day
Greece has already started preparing for the tourist season.
I simply can’t.
I’ve learned so many interesting things since the beginning of this pandemic.
For example, I had no idea about San Marino’s good relationship with Russia:
(Btw, I’ve been to San Marino once, as a child.)
As the days went on, people are starting to let loose and not realize that coronavirus is still in the air! Of course, it’s wayyyy better then before, when the niehgborhoods were shut down, and you can’t get out of your house/home. But even though the vaccine have been made, and working, doesn’t mean you can take off your mask and let loose. Hold on, and keep your mask on! Many people might think that coronavirus is gone now, and that might be true, for the record. But taking one step at a time is always the right choice. I think that people ought to keep their mask on or the sake of time. You never know if another outbreak might occur, and it’s better to stay safe. Passing by playgrounds and basketball courts in specific areas may strongly prove my point. People, especially teenagers are huddled in groups with masks off and playing sports, like basketball. I understand that they may be your friends, and letting loose for just a moment won’t hurt anyone. But is it just for a moment? People might get too used to keeping their masks off, but it’s better the other way. And remember, it’s just for the sake of time. It’s better to stay calm and clear of your doings than to celebrate and throw your mask off at the last moment before it’s all over, and cause other troubles.
Thank you for hearing out my opinion, it doesn’t mean there’s no one that disagrees, but it might help.
Have you seen any mask-free people huddled in groups? Especially playing sports? I understand that playing sports with masks on can be suffocating, but you can take a mask break six feet away if you need to take a breath! By playing sports, your body needs more oxygen to keep you alive, so you with breathe faster. But what you DON’T realize is that when you breathe faster, your breath can go further away, and it makes it easier for the virus to travel.
Once again, thank you for hearing me out!
Well, last year the “tourist season” motto was honest, though foreigners couldn’t really appreciate the irony of “Greece is a state of mind”.
I am guessing this year we will roll with this one, in honor of the people working in the industry?
Or we could troll the world with mottos like:
“We will treat you like royalty, if you have a corona”
“This summer your vacations WILL finally get viral”
You might think that I am not taking this seriously, but trust me, I am much more serious than most of the ministers in the Greek government, which is a pretty low bar.
You do not have to know any Greek. Just watch the dates up on the right and take a shot whenever you hear “krisimi evdomada” (“crucial week” … the whole phrase is “the next two weeks are crucial”) and by the end of the video you will need a designated driver even to locate your kitchen table.
Every day, for the past months, kids gather at school, hop over the barred doors and play mostly volleyball (that retains some distances), sometimes football, and quite often basketball.
The last two are contact sports, especially basketball, and wearing a mask is practically useless. Imagine spending one hour pushing and shoving people underneath the basket. There is no way to keep the air in the court “clean” and you will end up being sweaty from your own body and and the other people that you constantly push around.
You could wear a mask, but it really is just for show once you get into playing the game.
Personally I go there every day, whenever the weather and my obligations allow for it, but I do not play the game. I just pick an empty hoop and train on my own. That is totally safe. Playing basketball at the moment is a bad idea, vaccines or no vaccines.
