And just like that, everyone stops talking about Roger Stone…
Evil genius at work!
This upsets me considerably:
School has reclosed not long ago(Starting today)
The school system where I live will probably reopen this fall, but in many other states it probably won’t. That is a tremendously deep topic during this pandemic and I will eventually come around to displaying my thoughts on the subject.
Believe me when I say that I probably have a very “unique” position on the topic. And no, it is not a simple “we should or should not open the schools back up” answer.
Remember March? So long ago.
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/02/29/health/coronavirus-mask-hysteria-us-trnd/index.html
To be clear once again, Americans don’t need masks. The CDC says that healthy people in the US shouldn’t wear them because they won’t protect them from the novel coronavirus.
In fact, warns US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams, face masks might actually increase your risk of infection if they aren’t worn properly.
Funny to read it now.
Its no longer clear whats going on in the world
(new cases / week) graph:
but some countries started to add antibody result to statistics, so its not real new cases, many of them are from long ago
if we exclude (recoveries / week) and (deaths / week) we will get in some sense more real increase / decrease:
Brazil looks better now. There is no decrease(almost no below zero weeks).
active cases (total cases minus total recoveries minus total deaths):
its hard to believe that Europe has still same number of active cases…
maybe they have problems with adding recovered to statistics?
(deaths / week) graph:
situation in Brazil looks bad again
What graph to plot next?
We’re having spikes in cases because of tourists (mostly). There are rumors about a Stay-at-home 2.0.
What does “recovered” mean? Coronavirus doctor's diary: Why are people remaining ill for so long? - BBC News
Lengths of the biggest waves that ended (in some sense)
start date: day with at least 1000 new cases
end date: day when 7 days average becomes less than 1000
28 days, China
29 days, Sweden , but was slightly below 1000 for a long time before
33 days, Belgium
46 days, Egypt , just recently reached <1000
53 days, Germany
53 days, Qatar
59 days, France
59 days, Iran, but 2nd wave now
61 days, Canada
62 days, Italy
68 days, Turkey , but its ~ 999/day everyday since
72 days, Spain
93 days, United Kingdom
average 55 days
Why not both send it to the CDC and to the DHHS, have the former keep the latter in check?
Sadly, I think the whole point is to prevent the former from keeping the latter in check, and to give more control over information (and hence power) to the latter, which is staffed by political appointees.
I find it deeply disturbing how mask wearing has become such a politically divisive issue here in the USA
Yeah, seen as I live in Atlanta, this is gonna be a wild ride.
Our government’s way of thinking ever since the tourist season re-opened :

I’m just going to leave this here.
by this tracker Oral Polio Vaccine is on top. Its not new.
Studies have shown that this vaccine may confer non-specific effects, reducing morbidity and mortality from other infections than polio. It is thus being tested to determine whether these effects are observed in SARS-CoV-2 infections.
but when all trials will be completed, it will not not mean that vaccine is effective. It means that information about it exist. But we need to find and read that information.
I just noticed that and now I am wondering what else is there ?
There are three conditions schools can be in:
A) totally open
B) totally closed
C) partially open
and only the last option has anything that can be up for a discussion as a condition (e.g. the extent of the measures taken, how many students, which age groups/classes etc) so I am really scratching my head now to find what else could be done. ![]()
