I’d say it goes out the window, because there is nothing accidental about harassment. In contrast, “score cheating” or “escaping” often are accidental, and so should be dealt with privately.
I’ve just received yet another tournament invitation, this time from AvikDragon55. I understand that steps are being taken to resolve this issue, but if there is any way to opt out of receiving such invitations, please let me know. This is becoming a significant nuisance.
If there is anything i can do to assist you with this problem…let me know. Id rather be broactive if at all possible. i understand dealing with an issue this wisespread at this time, must be, well, something of a burden… if there is something big or small i can do to bring a solution to this issue then im happy to lend a hand.
No. Not from him. The sender is spoofed.
good to know… still worth reporting the name by which the invitation was sent.
yeah
FYI
Furthermore, we need you to all be aware that this perpetrator is doing identity fraud, with accounts pretending to be other people (mods, admin) and groups likewise.
Please be on the lookout for suspect activities like this, and ping a moderator if you see it
(thanks for the recent head’s ups)
Thanks for letting us know <3
How is it that someone I’ve blocked is inviting me to a tournament for the 3rd time in two days? What do I have to do stop getting these?
I think you will find that this is not the same person.
I hope that is the case.
There will be font differences in there: the person creating these problems is creating new accounts fraudulently pretending to be the admin of the group, and with a new throw-away group, using the “choose a font that looks very similar” trick.
We’ll get the actual user ID into these notifications so we can be sure about that.
Please report these by pinging a moderator direct.
We’ll also get in a “can only be invited once” mechanism.
So much wasted developer effort due to nuisance makers ![]()
Oh one obvious thing to check: make sure you “Leave” PlanetGo group if you don’t want to be invited to its legitimate activities.
Having done that, you can be sure that any other invites that look like they come from there are not legitimate
I was never part of any PlanetGo. And I received this invite after having blocked AvikDragon55.
I am willing to put in the hours for this, help out any way possible, if this is becoming an issue for a lot of users. And you think this is worth the effort. cc: @GreenAsJade
I’m largely the one doing the work behind the scenes, with anoek’s help.
Which is why you’re not seeing more productive things from me at the moment.
The offer of help is really appreciated - the best help at the moment is to keep working on things the users want while we get this sorted.
hopefully the fake AvidDragon55? because that username looks familiar so unless someone else has information to the contrary, I assume he’s just a victim in this
Yes (barring an elaborate hoax).
What’s the objective of these accounts? What do they gain from this?
One idea is stroking their ego: being the boss of a group/room with lots of members make you feel popular and important. Similar to all those likes on social modia. You’d see people on KGS make a room and spam invite people in the main chat rooms so I’d parody them by inviting them to my “Uberdude’s Ego Boosta!” room instead. Also similar to people making mega-rengos.
Mental disorder. Instead of making good and money they spend their energy abusing people.
I completely disagree with you. How fake popularity could make feel popular and important? It’s easier to draw numbers if that helps.
Unfortunately sick people doesn’t have reasons for their actions. That makes them dangerous.
I think it is just a waste of time reasoning of it.
Let’s not enforce the stigma on mental illness here.
I agree that my opinion was inappropriate. Thank you for you feedback. You completely right. I really don’t know the reason.
What I certain about that we should stop discussion about the reasoning of what happening. There is no ration explanation.
