I’ve noticed that I’m still getting announcement from players who I’ve blocked. I hope this gets fixed so I don’t play players who I don’t want to play.

You can block players from accepting your open games. But for some reason currently that doesn’t stop you from seeing and accepting their posted games.
I agree this is not ideal and should be fixed.
Announcements aren’t related to games. Block announcements refers to external links that user may post site wide such as twitch streams or tournaments that you do not want to see.
Perhaps consider a feature request to block game announcement too! I don’t imagine it’d be difficult to implement.
