Book Used in Joseki Explorer

Hello!

I’ve scoured the forums over the last 5 minutes and I can’t find the answer to this question so I hope it’s not a dumb one. While using the Joseki explorer the explanations often refer to a book citing (pg. 14) or (Vol. 1) for example.

Does anyone know what book they’re citing? I’d like to hone my Joseki knowledge and would love to read a book that offers an in depth understanding of common patterns.

If no one knows I’d also love any recommendations on what Joseki book you like most, ideally one that’s as up to date as possible to account for AI (though I understand that one that’s completely up to date isn’t likely).

Thank you so much!

Hey RoyalEmu!

You’re looking for the “Source” field. It often lists an author and book title in positions with page citations.

I think possibly the most up to date and comprehensive coverage of joseki with references to AI might not always be in English.

The ones in English anyway might be

There’s this book

https://www.amazon.com/How-Play-Way-Explained-illustrative/dp/3940563781

But I think it’s more focused on pro games rather than joseki? I have the other books but not this one.

But then there’s three volumes in Chinese by Ke Jie and other authors. I also have this one.

Then there’s books by Michael Redmond and Antti Tormanen about AlphaGo specifically.
