Bug: Auto-score marked occupied points as pink

While scoring a game against a friend of mine, I came across what seems like buggy auto-score behaviour:

A few things I notice:

  1. I believe the black group on the left is dead. Auto-score disagrees. (I guess it’s possible I’m wrong… and the game isn’t quite over, so if you think I’m wrong, maybe you should wait until it is to explain why… although if that potentially flipped the game result I’d also be happy to resign…)
  2. The stones are in a single chain, but have two different statuses according to auto-score: some are black points and some are pink points. Shouldn’t every stone in a chain have the same status?
  3. It seems unexpected that any stones on the board would be marked as pink. Shouldn’t only unoccupied points be pink?
  4. NOT SHOWN: the exact configuration of pink points isn’t always the same. I clicked “cancel and resume” once (then we passed again), and I also clicked/unclicked the dead stones a few times, and through that I’ve seen different sets of stones in that chain marked pink. They are not always adjacent. In at least one case I saw three different statuses simultaneously in that chain: black, pink, and transparent (where part of the chain was semi-transparent as-if dead, but not marked white).

I can’t remember whether #1 and #4 are still expected sometimes with the new auto-score, but #2 and #3 seem pretty suspicious to me.

Here’s a link to the game as a test case: 9x9, 6 stones

those pink squares are clearly bug
group at the left would be problem only against bot, against human you can choose it as dead yourself
I guess group at the right is not as alive as it looks like

I didn’t invade bottom-right because it didn’t seem pedagogically useful, but with correct play black still lives in seki right? I guess that might confuse auto-score in theory, but it seems to agree with the intent (let black live) in this case.

That’s true about auto-score in general ;). IMO, it’s a problem if at least one of the players is either a beginner or a bot.
