Can something be done about the cloudflare socket issue please?

Hi,

For the past couple of months I’ve been having connection issues with OGS where as I’m navigating through the site it stops being able to load and you get some kind of file retrieval error.

I’ve been ignoring this for a little while, but it’s getting really annoying and so I found this thread which says it’s a problem with the BT network in the UK. I’m in the UK, but I’m on EE not BT, even if they could use the same network. Just saying that this problem could be quite major for UK site users and not just an edge-case.

I’ve tried to change my connection from cloudflare, to google and to the public one and nothing is working.

I just wanted to say that this band-aid isn’t enough to fix this issue and it really ruins the experience of using the site. It’s not unusable but it’s really really bad. (It’s almost impossible to write this post)

Can we get a real fix on this?

If it’s almost impossible to write the post then you need to talk to your ISP because discourse (this forum) is a completely different application (not even run by OGS) to OGS main site.

Two totally separate applications run by two separate organisations not working for you … the problem is at your end.

Okay, that’s good to know, I can try some things to see if that fixes it.

I’m on my phone’s remote connection and at least the connection doesn’t seem to be constantly dropping, I’ll use this over the next couple of days and if it works better then it’s definitely something with our local network.

Thanks a lot. (This has been driving me insane so being able to work towards resolving this is a great help.)
