Can white’s group be captured? I think it can’t because the liberty at X and the stone marked with a triangle prevents the ladder, but is there another way to capture or is this group safe?

If white played at T7, I’d connect and ultimately white would be in Atari again when they’d have to play at 1 or lose the group.
Is there another option for white?
In cut we trust and black has too many cutting points.

What if white doesn’t play at T7? The could play somewhere other than T7 or P3, and if you do play T7 later they can can save the group then.
If your opponent can force you to make a move, it’s generally not a good idea to do the move before they force you. If you do, they got what they wanted, and they didn’t even have to spend a move to do it so they have a free move to do something else.

Depends.
If its white’s turn, and white plays locally without screwing up, then it can not be captured. White has a couple of moves which work, for example jumping to N2, or making the cuts at O5 and then P7 will allow white to get out safely.
However, if black gets to play the next move locally, the combination of T7 and N3 is a clean capture.

White resigned while having a solid advantage.
Why is that?
Imagine a strong white dragon which still has enough air to breathe, only surrounded by brittle piles of rock. All it takes is some shaking and all the weak restraints fall to pieces:
With its second move white can already give double atari, break the dragon free and use its influence to their advantage.
Black on the other hand is in the precarious position of needing to defend all their weaknesses.

WOW i learned a few things reading this post great description of the options one has to make the right or wriong move and the others putting their views in also added to the understnding of what see to others as a simple decision but isn’t — gain thanks for posting
