Cancelled game count as defeat

Hello,

I joined a 9*9 game and was supposed to play as white. I waited a long time for my opponent to play his first move but apparently, he was gone. So I waited for his time to pass. But it seems that after his time has elapsed, he was considered the winner, and the game was cancelled. Is there any reason for that or is it just a bug ?

It’s strange that the win was assigned to black even though he timed out.

However, since the game was annulled, the “loss” should not affect your ranking or win/loss record.
